I'm interested in trying it since I have friends that play; but I'm a cheap ass and don't want to waste money on a game if I don't like it.
any way to hack into it or something?

It's illegal talk but you can download it off some websites.
But you can get Power ISO, and run a virtual CD Drive.
If you don't want to burn it to a disk yourself.

It's quite a big download if you choose that route.. alternatively, if I recall correctly, legit WoW users get 1-2 free trial offers to invite others into WoW? You could also ask them..

It's not illegal at all to download it. In fact, you can download it straight from worldofwarcraft.com.
But, to obtain an account, you need a unique CD key only found on unique copies of the game. Just go out and buy it...it costs $18-20 and you get a free month of gameplay ($15 value, making the game itself only $3-5). | |

It's not illegal to download it, but it is to without paying or to run a private server to play it ;)

soo... does it pick which server you are on or can you play on the same ones as your friends?
and if you were to play on a privet server; could you buy the disk after you are trained ect.. and change servers?

You get to pick your server if I remember right.
I am pretty sure but I haven't tried it.
