Will my machine run WoW?

Okay, so... heres my dilemma. I have a crappy rig. I want to play WoW. Sucks to be me, right? Well... maybe not. Thats what I'm trying to figure out with YOUR help!

Down to brass tacks:

OS: Windows XP Pro Ver. 2002 Service Pack 2
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 1.9 GHz / 512 MB Ram
Video: NVidia GeForce2 MX 100/200

I'm not sure which video drivers are currently running, but if someone could let me know how to find that info, I'll post it up here with the rest of the specs.

check on the back of the WoW box it will tell you the minimum specs.

It should run fine.
The only problem is that you only meet minimum requirements for RAM.

Windows® System 2000/XP OS:

* Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
* 512 MB or more of RAM
* 32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2 class card or above

Tyler, thank you. I've looked at the min specs listed on the website, but I was completely unsure to the speed of my video card. (I searched the 'net for -hours-)

My next questions are, keeping in mind my video card, would it be worth it to get a full gig of ram?
Also, what would be a good card to upgrade to from the GeForce2 MX 100/200 and is it worth it?

A gig of ram is 30$ USD around here, which is very cheap. I don't know about where you live, though.

Yea get more RAM.
It's worth it and it's fairly cheap.

As for video cards I'm not sure.
Depends on what you want to do on your computer and how much you're willing to pay.

Wow, I mean... it really has been a while since I looked into parts. Well, hell, I'm definitely gonna do that, then.

As for the video card bit, is there any way, going off the info I've provided, someone could give me an idea of what video cards I -could- install on this rig?

(Off topic slightly) Just so you guys know, I haven't built a rig in... 10 years? And if anyone remembers, back then it was as simple as figuring out if you had an IBM part or a Mac part. Then, just make sure theres room inside the tower, and a free port. Good times. [/nostalgia]

Many computer parts are on sale for the holiday season. I like nVidia cards myself, but what you can put in depends on your motherboard, and processor.

The 7 series and 8 series are pretty good. I think the 8 series will only run on Vista, though. It needs DX10

It will run it though the BC may be a bit much to ask... If its just the regular game you should be fine though
