Getting back into gaming...WoW, Lineage 2, Rangarok, Guild Wars

Trying to test out the waters with some of these MMO's...and it might turn choppy but I'm willing to give it a go.

Personally, I hate to buy shit unless I have to. That point being said, I tend to play private servers. WoW/Lineage2/Ragnarok are all private for me. Guild Wars is the only one where I play legit and that's because a good friend bought everything so we could play.

What's your view on multi-gaming with these brands?

I've only played two of those, WoW and GW.
World of Warcraft is fun for a while, I used to play on Instant 70 private servers because I couldn't be stuffed leveling up and having to go to tons of dungeons and instances to get good armor, but on Instant 70 servers (where you get the best armor free) it's more about who's got more skill not who's played for longer and got better armor :P
Oh and I loved guild wars when I played it, but I saved up for factions a while back. Then it just stopped working ._.

But IMO the best MMO out there is AoC. It's got great graphics really good combat-system. You can build your own houses and towns, and it also has some pretty cool fatalitys

Yeah sorry if I didn't answer your question but I didn't really understand it.

EDIT: If you're looking for a slow-paced MMO which is kinda like a survival sim try Wurm Online out. I used to love that game, so much that I broke my old computer for it haha.

I've only played Guildwars,
and even then I only followed up until right before the last expansion.

I liked the game and all,
but it was way too time consuming.
Getting around the game was a pain in the ass because the maps were so huge.
It was fun for the first year or so,
then it got uber repetative.

I intend on playing Guildwars 2 when it comes out,
depending on the game play.

With games like this,
I'm finding more and more -free- online MMOs that are just like GW in gameplay and the whole quest system.
Some of them are even just as amazing in detail and special effects.

Yeah getting to places was a pain.
But really, you should try out AoC (just make sure your computer can handle it)
It actually has a really good combat system (even for a singleplayer game)
You pretty much choose to do an upper right attack, upper left, straight forward and a bunch of other special moves. When you combine them properly you can perform special combos or fatalities (chopping heads off... ripping out hearts then eating them at higher levels lol)
Also being an archer is good if you're into FPS or third person games. You have to aim the bow yourself and headshots do more damage aswell as weakspots in their armor.

EDIT: Also there is mounted combat where your speed and mount accounts into the damage done.
