How do you feel about your stepparents?

You know, I've had my stepdad since I was 7 (my real dad died when I was 2) and so he IS my dad to me. But even so, I think he's an asshole most of the time. He's a chauvinistic, racist, self-absorbed drunk. He's usually not violent (though he's crossed the line a couple times-I wasn't there to do anything about it however) but he just drives me crazy. Everything is about him. Always. Even so, I don't hate him, I just don't like him much.

My step dad's pretty tight. My dad died while my mom was still pregnant, so I never got a chance to meet him. Apparently he was pretty cool. I was father-less until about eleven. After that, my mom married this guy with two kids. Due to the fact that I met them after the half-way point in my childhood, my step-brothers are more friends than anything. I just sit in my room and don't talk to them unless it's dinner, so we get along great. He even looks a little like me, so you can't tell we're step-brothers.

As for the step-dad, he's pretty tight. He takes me shooting every now and then and he tried to help me get into politics. Also helps out a lot with homework and stuff. He's pretty real. He only raises his voice to me when I'm being an asshole. He also backs me up a lot, because my mom, although cool, can act very weird sometimes and yell for no reason. That, or she'll say something like, "Wrap the presents. People like to unwrap presants more." and I'm like, "No, it's Alex. I know Alex more than you. He just wants his birthday present, he doesn't care if it's wrapped." and my mom will argue with me until my dad will finally say, "They're guys, guys don't care about wrapping."

I was about 7 or 8 when my mom divorced. My step dad is A LOT more tolerable than my biological dad. My biological dad always tells me I'm stupid and spoiled by my mom, and he isn't even going to pay for part of my college fund. >_>

My step dad doesn't care if I cuss (at least, not to his face). He's surprisingly flexible, and he tries to make me happy when he can. My mom and I are allergic to birds, but I really wanted a bird - and he successfully convinced her to give me a bird. He's a great stepdaddy. :3

I hate my stepmom. She forced me and my sister to stop saying goodnight to our dad when I was like 8. How f'ed up is that?

My dad married my stepmom when I was five, so she's almost like a second mother to me in that I've known her for most of my life. I just don't like her personality, I find her to be very fake and not especially loving toward me. At least she is a kick-ass cook.

I hate my step dad. He only complains and yells at my mom, always tries to get her to be mad at me, always criticizing her, GAVE AWAY MY CATS, and SOOOOO much more shit. But yeah, I hope my mom goes through with her thoughts of divorce. That guy has a stick up his ass.

i have a similar situation.....ive known my step-dad for 7 years and i can do whatever i want without him yelling....he says he considers me more as a friend than a step-son ;)

Well i had a stepdad john and i hated him when he first came i like it just me my brother and mom and grandparents when i go to there house and see em but after awhile we started to play and we got to knoew each other and i didnt hate him so much
