ok, a few people have asked me about the vectoring thing so ill walk you all through one, i use adobe photoshop but the same techniques can be done in various programs
first, pick an image of a person, place, thing, etc.
i chose
her (i think shes beautiful lol)
open the image in your program, and create a new layer
select parts of her that skin would normally be seen, using the polygonal lasso tool

my selection is rather sloppy, due to the fact that i'll be covering the "slop" with clothes/hair
amy lee has a rather light skin tone, use your color selector and select A LIGHT SKIN TONE color, such as #FBE6D9 and fill in the selected area

make that layer invisible, DO NOT DESELECT. create a new layer, and use the "unselection" lasso tool to deselect the lightest area of her face.
select a slightly darker skin tone (#F6DFCF) and fill in the new selection

make that layer invisible, create a new layer. use the unselection lasso tool to deselect the lightest parts of the LAST selection on her face, use a slightly darker skin tone (#F1D9C8) and fill in the new selection
deselect all
when unselected and layers are visible it should look like this:
ok, make all layers invisible again
create a new layer
select areas around the nose/eyes that are seemingly darker than the rest of the face and choose a slightly darker from the original skin tone such as #F4DACA, and fill

set opacity to 70%. at this point, we are getting a lot of layers.
make all layers that you have used the fill for visible, and every other layer invisible including the amy lee picture
merge visible

ok, now make all layers other than amy lee invisible. create a new layer, select her lips, and fill with a light pink (#F5CCF3 is what i used)

deselect, make last layer invisible, create new layer and select the bright/more vibrant/darker areas of her lips, fill with darker pink (#EFCCE2 is what i used) set opacity to 90%

^ is obviously zoomed out and unselected
make sure all layers are invisible except amy lee, select the darkest parts of her lips and fill with a dark color (#582A46 is what i used)
mark last layer invisible, create new layer. then select the BLACK areas of her mouth, fill. i didnt use black, i used #0B0B0B

ok, make last layer invisible, create new layer. select the showing teeth, fill with a light gray. i used #D8D7CE unselect, make all layers visible, zoom out, observe your work
mine looks like this so far. ok, we have far too many layers once again. merge all of the lip layers into one layer. now youll have a lip layer and a face layer. if it helps you organize, feel free to rename them
ok go back to shading the face in various dark areas, such as the neck and ears (i hope by now you can pick shades/colors, select and fill yourself)
now mine looks like this
ok now we'll work on the nose. ive merged every layer to this point
as you can see ive selected the crease and nostril, and filled on a new layer with darker tones than the skin tone
obviously im getting a bit lazy, but you should understand most of what to do regarding the shadows of the face. if you want a more realistic and detailed version, you would add more shadows, more layers, more tones, etc.
^ here i created a shadow on the left side of the nose, so that it is not just flat.
now, for the hair. im pretty lazy, im not into making it look realistic, just select around the hair, make a new layer, fill with dark dark brown, DAMN NEAR BLACK, or black
as you can tell my selection is pretty fucking sloppy.
um, where it goes over the shirt, be as sloppy as you want because the shirt will be added last. the hairline, dont be really sloppy on, actually be neater than me, im pretty lazy and im not going to concentrate on it. hair should be the top layer up until we make the shirt
when vector layers are visible, it should look like this
now we'll at the pink tone to her cheek... new layer, # E6B5C9
make the opacity of that layer 26%
now we'll do the eyes
select parts where the purple makeup color shows on amy lee. fill with a purple(#C791A7), and set opacity to 18% dont unselect
ok, create new layer, make last layer invisible. use the unselection polygyonal lasso tool to make the selection cover only the darker purples... use the same color to fill, but set opacity to 20%
merge the eyes/face layers together again
new layer, invisible face layer, amy lee visible
lets make the eyebrows

i used #261002, make opacity of that layer 85%
ok now heres the tough part we're actually goign to vector the eyes
new layer, select area where whites of eyes would show. be a little spacious, you will make the lines perfect when you add the eyeliner and eyelashes
ok, now select just the colored parts of the eye, new layer, fill with desired color.
new layer, select lighter parts of colored eye, etc etc. (repeat as you did with face, for the eye)
hopefully yours will look better than mine, LOL
feel free to merge all eye layers together
now we'll do the eyeliner (new layer, select, fill)
now eyelashes (new layer, select, fill)
if it looks gross, because mine definitely did, go back to the face layer, and from there, add more layers very close to the eye of dark purples and such (under the eye layer)

now mine looks like that
select the crease of her eye, make a new layer, and fill with a dark purple
now for the shirt. create a new layer, above any other layer. select areas where the shirt should be, and fill with a gray
create new layer, make other layer invisible. unselect darkest parts of shirt, fill with lighter gray
continue same step above, with white this time
for the buttons, select, fill with a goldish color and add demensions
this is my finished "vector"
its not great, i rushed through it, but yeah, if you (or me) wouldve spent more time on it it'd look a lot more impressive
+rep if this helped?????? ok it took ages to type
